Akuapim South Municipal is one of the 22 districts within the Eastern Region. Nsawam, the district capital, is located within a gap along the main highway between Accra and Kumasi and is just 23km from the national capital.
The Municipality shares boundaries to the south with Ga West Municipal and Tema Metropolis, both of which are part of Greater Accra Region. To the north-west its neighbours are Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar, Akuapim North and West Akim Municipal respectively.

AKUAPIM SOUTH: 5 schools benefit from water and sanitation projects Five schools in the Akuapem South and West Akim districts in the Eastern Region have been connected to clean drinking water and hand washing stations at their school premises. In addition, three of the schools also had biogas toilet systems constructed.
AKUAPIM SOUTH: PTA funds Nsawam Presby School computer lab. The Parents Teachers Association of the Nsawam Presby School in the Nsawam Central electoral area has funded the construction of a computer laboratory which is meant to give the pupils more insight into the Information Technology Communication (ICT) world.
